On April 3rd-8th, ICS participated in the Veterans Administration’s Information Security (InfoSec) 2006 Conference held in Atlanta, Georgia. Many notable “firsts” occurred at this year’s conference. A record number of attendees (828) and exhibitors (97) participated. In addition, this is the first time the VA InfoSec Conference returned to a previous host city, Atlanta hosted the conference back in 2004.
"VA InfoSec2006: The Challenge Continues" served as the theme. The information security officer at the VA facility in Manila, Philippines suggested the theme, because it reflects the challenges the VA faces in the on-going task of certification, accreditation, and remediation. The theme also acknowledges the every day challenges faced by the VA information security officers (ISO), cyber security professionals, and IT staff in securing the VA enterprise. In addition, continuity continues by reverting back to InfoSec2004’s theme of "The Challenge." The remediation of the findings identified and documented during the C&A process became this year’s challenge.
